OUR VISION: A GROWING CHURCH THAT PARTNERS WITH OTHERS, SERVES OUR COMMUNITY, AND MULTIPLIES GOSPEL MINISTRIES.
The Word This Week
It's the most wonderful time of the year! Or at least that's what the song says. I personally love this season and at Berean we love to celebrate the period of waiting for Christ's birth that has traditionally been called "Advent". For the four Sundays in December finishing with Christmas Eve we will be marking the time as we anticipate the first coming of our Lord and Savior. Our children Kindergarten and up will be joining us for these services and each week will feature a children's sermon from the first two chapters of Luke's gospel. We will also be lighting our Advent wreath each week with a reading and thought from those same passages. For our messages this month, we will be looking to an unusual but very appropriate source, the book of Ruth. Having just finished our series in Judges that ended on such a dismal note, the book of Ruth reminds us that even in the darkest of times ("the days of the judges") there is hope because God is still faithful and faith can be found among the most unlikely of people. I look forward to sharing "The Gospel According to Ruth" with you during this Advent season! Marcus
